What I would do for this one to make it more of a chance for every team to compete....Make the certain divisions like you already do. Have every team play like 5-6 games no more, because dodgeball is brutal on the body anymore and wears you out quickly. After every team plays in there divisions, dont just take the top 1 or 2 from the divisions and stick them in playoffs, make like a half time section for half an hour and create a big tournament bracket so everyone can enter in the tournament. This makes for more fun for those teams that havent done well in regular play games but gives them the chance to enter to play in intense tournament action.

So are you saying do a round robin then a tourny? So the round robin means nothing, it's just for fun. Then put every team in on big tourny? Doesn't that bting up issues of if some teams win all their RR matches and loses first round in the tourny. Or are you saying do the RR then do rankings for the tourny? When that draw comes out, then the issues of"we shoudl be ranked higher" are going to be endless. "Why are we playing them first." etc. As we saw in the last tournaments, teams that won, were teams that have never played before as opposed to teams that play all the time. We are open to all suggestions. This way you propose seems lng as well. People were beat up after playing 7 round in the ifrst and 5+ in the last one. If you do 5-6 rounds and then a 24 team (min) draw, that's another 5 or so rounds. People will be exhausted, beat up, sore beyond belief. Thanks for the input. All input helps make each on better. Thanks again, Greg
What i'm saying is you do a round robin. Every team plays 5 games. After that you place teams in a tournament bracket based on there record. This allows everyone to play in the tournament instead of just solo'ing out the toughest teams in the division. Upsets happen in march madness, upsets could happen in dodgeball hence the movie: A True Underdog Story. If teams dont like how they got placed in the tournament, well to bad, thats there record. And if teams are tied at 3-2 record from regular matches, then you would base it more on who won the most matches in the games they have already played. And say if it works out right, then you could give the first and 2nd place team a bye game.
I`m realy happy that we have a nice event in Va . We don't have to dream about the ones in LA ,NY and other cities....as far as I`m concerned 50$ is not a big deal if we gonna have after party and beer(and girls).with good organization and promotion this event could be win win for everyone. I`m excited because I`ve just seen the movie(DB) on HBO. Suggestion: GSN

Isn't that going to take too long. Say what 4 rounds then a tourny. Doesnt bother me, either way. So what then take an hour break and do a draw? Then what happens when people disagree with the draw? I've done tennis draws but that is easy. Players have tourny results to go by and constant rankings. Would nt bother me, easier to keep score instead of my charts! Thansk for the advice. Still trying to nail down a date and spopnsors still. Thanks.
It shouldnt take too long. You set up divisions with 5 teams in each division. Give each team a unique division name just for a fun factor. Let each team in there division play each other. Every team then gets there record from the divisions that they were placed in. You could even give the winning team out of there specific division custom prizes like t-shirts stating there division name champions or something small like coupons. To avoid tie breakers what you do is add up how many games up out of the best of 5 each team has won and how many they have lost.
Intermission for half hour to an hour.
Then with the records teams have earned, you would create a tournament style bracket like a football playoff, NCAA tournament bracket. You do not make it double elimination, you only make it single elimination. The tournament bracket flies by to the championship game and would run smoothly. The great thing about making the tournament this way with the round robin to a tournament bracket is that even though a team might have lost a few games in the round robin they still get a chance to redeem themsevles and compete for the championship game. When the bracket is created the intensity picks up because its either go big or go home. Its also very fun to watch the tournament bracket after wins and losses. You'll get a chance to watch the tournament just unfold, from upsets to massacres. Make the bracket very big in size as well so it can be seen by the whole crowd through the tourney.
-Suggestion. The attack line which is behind the center line, move it back more so there's not so much chaos on the front line when you retrieve balls. The attack line is only there for when you run and get the ball and the line where you can run back to throw it real quick. Then the center line comes in play through the whole match for were they can throw the ball during the match.
-Suggestion. You could also have a few people known for example as scorekeepers to watch the game and keep track of how many people a certain player gets out by catching or throwing them out. You would need a few people to watch the matches because dodgeball moves real fast sometimes in a heated battle. Then you could create a prize for the person in the whole tournament who had the most people out all day.
Anyways, let me know what you think, just a few suggestions.
With 1st Place taking 8k and 2nd Place taking 2k Present them some small trophies for each individual player on the team saying "Skyline Dodgeball Champions", "Skyline Dodgeball Runner-Ups", and a trophy for 3rd and 4th place as well. Its nice to have the money but its spendable and trophies are not and thats just a good keep sake to have.

awesome suggestions. i like the trophies idea as well. the scorekeeper one, might take too many staff away, but another great idea. sounds like the best best, the combo and bracket idea. now i just need to get more sponsors and a date.
any chance you get get us a few more teams?
any one interested in helping out with promoting, sponsors, working... I can help you out wtih some membership deal. Depending onthe level of involvement, free memberships.
Any sponsor or promotion ideas, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you could send me a flyer to my e-mail I could print it out and post it up at the college I attend, and other campuses in the West Virginia area. I'd love to work at the tournament but my involvement will be playing in it. If theres anything else I could do to help make it happen, I can try for you.
The best thing you could do to promote is to just explore the internet in dodgeball searches and try to get it spread on forums. You could attend the chick fil a dodgeball tournament as well and pass out flyers to promote the tournament.
Let me if theres anything else I can do to help you out.
Anyways my e-mail address is DouglasCuppett@aol.com
