If you're a college student and looking to step up your game from intramurals to the next level consider creating a collegiate dodgeball team at your school and joining the National College Dodgeball Association (NCDA). The NCDA game format may be different from what you're used to - they use 10 rubber balls with larger teams on a larger court and permit you to gorilla grip/pinch the ball when thrown. Currently, JMU has the only official NCDA team in VA, but there have been past teams/clubs at UVA, VCU and Liberty. UMW has had a running pick-up group (now club, though not NCDA affiliated) for the past 8 years. Nearby in MD, both UMD and Towson also have official NCDA teams. This division follows the standard foam ball 6v6 format followed by most intramural programs.
